Stepping into teaching for me is an act of “a long obedience in the same direction.”Thank you to the entire North Central University community (students, staff, and faculty) for choosing me as their Faculty of the Year!Mark Alfuth saw the potential in me more than 13 (14?) years ago by inviting me into his Finance course as a routine guest lecturer. His encouragement is reflected in receiving this award. Thank you!All of my colleagues at NCU are friends and daily encouragers. A special shoutout to Shawn Sauve who hired me and models a culture of high standards and deep devotion to all in his charge.To the students… the students… they are the reason I choose to teach. They ask the best questions and (when not using ChatGPT) give the best answers! It’s a good tired at the end of each week by teaching and consulting (yes, we still keep a full schedule in serving our clients at DISTILL). Life is good. There are many names to be called out in collaborative support (the entire athletics staff and our counselors to be sure) but I want to shine a light on six individuals who continuously lock arms with all of us to provide world-class support for our students: Tiffani Wollum, Mary Winter, Rachel Wendorf, Jill Trites, Sharon (Decker) Kuntz, and Weston Shonley. You are treasures and I hope you see your contributions in what I believe is a shared award. Love and appreciate all of you!

Of all the awards I’ve received in my 28+ year Wall Street career, this may be the one that means the most. It’s an honor to be invested in the lives of our students and especially our student-athletes. I’m grateful they let me in on their lives while I teach, advise, and mentor. Grateful for our clients who allow me the space to both consult and teach. Many of our students at North Central University are first-gen and I’m on a shared mission to ensure they have world-class opportunities in their educational journey.
