You have been with Bucky for a couple of years now and he knows that your birthday is coming up. You tell him you don’t want to do anything but he plans a surprise party for you to cheer you up and take your mind off things. The party isn’t the only surprise that night.

Prologue

It was your birthday soon and honestly you didn’t really want to celebrate it this year. After Sokovia you just weren’t in the mood to celebrate. You had told Bucky this, he had realized how broken you were about losing Pietro. Even though you hardly knew the man it hit you hard when he died. He had died saving your life.

Chapter 1

You were sat on the sofa in yours and Bucky’s shared bedroom. You had one of Bucky’s shirts on and you were reading a book. It was hard to focus on the words on the pages while you had a million thoughts racing through your head.

“You okay doll?” Bucky asked as knelt down beside you. “Yeah. I’m okay Buck” you gave him the best smile you could muster. You prayed he wouldn’t notice how fake it was but he did. He saw right through you. He ran his hands through your hair and looked at you with those piercing blue eyes and at the sight of his concerned face the tears that you had tried so hard to contain spilled. You relaxed a little as he pulled you into his arms.

The Next Day

You woke up to an empty bed but you just assumed that Bucky was training with Steve or something. Today was your birthday and all you wanted to do was stay in bed and watch Netflix all day, so that’s what you did. You ended up falling asleep while watching something on Netflix and by the time you woke up it was 4 in the afternoon. You stretched your limbs out and kicked something at the bottom of your bed. You sat up and saw a large white box with a little blue ribbon on it. You pulled the box towards you and opened it up. Your eyes widened and a gasp escaped your lips as you looked at the beautiful red dress folded neatly inside. On top of it was a pair of black high heels and a note. You picked up the note and read it.

Happy birthday doll. You were sleeping when I came home and you looked so peaceful I didn’t want to wake you. Natasha and Wanda will be coming at 4:15 to do your hair and makeup. When you’re ready come to the function room. I can’t wait to see how beautiful you look. I love you always, Bucky x

You smiled and a tear trickled down your cheek as you read the note. You quickly hopped in the shower and as you stepped out you heard a knock on your bedroom door, you pulled on your robe before opening the door to see a very excited looking Natasha and Wanda.

An hour and a half later and you were ready. The two women had left you and told you to go down to the function room in thirty minutes. When the thirty minutes were up you headed down to the room.

The tower was eerily quiet. You opened the door to the fingers room only to find that it was pitch black, it looked empty and you were about to walk out and call Bucky when all of the lights switched on and a bunch of people yelled “SURPRISE. HAPPY BIRTHDAY” at you. Your hand flew to your chest and your eyes landed on those blue ones you loved so much. He walked over to you and pulled you into a kiss. He whispered “Happy birthday” into your ear. “I thought I told you not to do anything Buck” you said with a grin. He shrugged his shoulders “I wanted to surprise you.”

The rest of the night went by with lots of dancing, laughing and drinking. The sound of your favorite slow song made you smile, someone tapped your shoulder and your smile grew as you saw Bucky holding out his hand to you silently asking you to dance. You gladly accepted and Bucky spun you elegantly round the dance floor as the guests looked on in awe. The song finished and Bucky gave you a quick peck before pulling away from you. The next thing he did surprised you even more than the party did. You watched with wide eyes as Bucky got down on one knee in front of you and pulled out a small black box from his jacket pocket. He opened the box to reveal a breathtakingly beautiful diamond ring.

“Y/F/N. I have loved you for so long. You have helped me through so much, adjusting to my new life, comforting me through the many nightmares and so much more. You have been my rock and I’ve been yours. How about we become each others rocks forever? Will you make me the happiest man in this room and marry me?” Bucky asked with a smile, you felt the tears roll down your face. You practically yelled “Yes!” as you flung your arms around him as he stood up. He slipped the ring onto your finger, the diamond glimmering under the party lights.

Chapter 2 - Eight months later

You looked at yourself in the mirror and smiled at your reflection. Today was the day you had been waiting eight months for. Your wedding day.

You brushed your hands over your silk gown as your bridesmaids Natasha, Wanda walked into the room. They gasped when they saw you. “So, how do I look?” you asked them with a grin. “Y/N you look amazing. Wow” Natasha whispered and Wanda nodded in agreement. You had chosen short light blue dresses for them. They both looked so beautiful. The three of you headed down to the limo to go to the church.

Steve had become like a big brother to you since you started dating Bucky was waiting outside of the church for you. He held out his hand and you gladly took it. Not only was Steve the best man but he was also walking you down the aisle. “You look beautiful Y/N.” Steve whispered in your ear as he walked you to the doors of the church. The church bells rang and the classic wedding song started to play. Nat and Wanda had already walked down the aisle and we’re waiting for you at the alter. Along with Bucky. You took a deep breath and walked down the aisle. It was time to marry the love of your life.

The ceremony was beautiful and when the priest pronounced you husband and wife Bucky pulled you into the most breathtaking kiss. Now you were at the reception and Steve and Bucky were about to make speeches. Steve was up first.

He stood up and tapped his glass with a knife to gain everyone’s attention, the chatter in the room stopped as everyone turned to look at Steve.

“First of all I want you all to give a huge had to the new Mr. and Mrs. Barnes” everyone in the room clapped and cheered. “I’ve know Bucky since we were kids, yeah I know it was a very, very long time ago” Steve said with a small grin on his face. “You got that right grandpa” Tony yelled making everyone in the room laugh. “Like I was saying. I’ve known him since we were kids but I have never seen him happier than he is with the beautiful Y/N. They’re so perfect for each other it’s kind of scary. They’re not only each others rocks, they’re my rocks as well. As soon as Bucky laid eyes on Y/N I saw something in him change, something I’ve never seen before. In that moment I knew that they were meant to be. I never thought he’d actually have the balls to ask her out though, he always got so flustered around her but then one day he just asked her and thankfully she said yes. Now here we are today on the best day of their lives. I am so grateful that I got to play such a big part in their special day. I love you both so much, you are my family. To Y/N and Bucky” Steve said as he raised his glass, everyone in the room did the same and cheered. The tears were rolling down your cheeks as you stood up and wrapped Steve in a tight hug and Bucky did the same.

Bucky stood up and cleared his throat. “I never in a million years thought that I would be standing here today. I am so lucky to have the most beautiful woman in the world as my wife. I don’t think there are any words to describe how much I love Y/N. The feeling I get just by looking at her or thinking about her or even from someone mentioning her name, it’s something I’ve never felt before. Y/N is my life and I will do anything to protect her. I want nothing more than to spend the rest of my life with her, to have a life together, to have kids together and to grown old together. I love you more than words can ever say Y/N and I am so excited to start our new adventure together” Bucky bent down and placed a soft kiss to your lips. You whispered something in his ear and he nodded. “Y/N actually wants to say a few words.”

You took a deep breath as you stood up, Bucky stood with you and clasped your hand in his. “I would like to thank all of you for coming today. You have no idea how much it means to me and Bucky that you’re all spending our special day with us” you turned to look at Bucky for the next part of your speech. “I love you more than anything Bucky. I was going to wait until we were alone and tell you this but then I thought that it would be even better if I told you in front of all of family and friends. I’m pregnant” you said with a smile as happy tears slipped down your cheeks. Bucky’s eyes widened and he placed his hand on your belly, the bump was only small but it was there. “We’re having a baby? How far along are you?” he asked with an excited voice. You nodded your head “Two months” you said with excitement before he pulled you into a kiss as your family and friends cheered with joy.

Chapter 3 -Six and a half months later

You opened your eyes and hear a familiar voice. Bucky had his hand on your very swollen stomach and he was speaking softly to your unborn child. Neither of you knew the gender and you didn’t want to until he/she was born. A grin made its way onto your face when your child kicked Bucky’s hand. “Not long now baby” you whispered as you rubbed your belly. Bucky placed a kiss on your bump and then on your lips.

The baby kicked again and you both grinned against each others lips. “Not even born yet and you already don’t like me kissing mommy” Bucky said to the baby with a grin.

The next two weeks flew by and before you knew it you had gone into labor. It was painful and it was exhausting but at the end of the day you knew it would be worth it.

Sixteen hours after your waters broke you brought your son into the world. The doctors cleaned him up before handing him to you. The love you felt for this tiny human was something you had never felt before. He opened his little eyes and looked up at you.

Bucky had been stroking his chubby little cheek and your son now had his finger grasped in his tiny hand. “He has your eyes Buck” you said with a happy voice. Bucky smiled at your son and kissed the top of your head, you felt a tear land on your forehead and you smiled.

There was a knock at the door and Steve popped his head in. “Can we come in? I want to meet my godchild.” You and Bucky waved him in and of course the rest of the team was there as well.

“He’s so beautiful” Natasha said as she cried. You had chosen both Natasha and Wanda to be the godmothers to your baby since you were very close to them both and you couldn’t pick just one of them.

“Does he have a name?” Steve asked. You and Bucky looked at each other and smiled. You turned back to the others and spoke, you had a feeling that everyone would love the name you had chosen. Two people in particular would love it the most.

“He does. Everyone I would like you to meet Steven Pietro Barnes.”

You heard a small gasp come from Wanda’s mouth at the sound of her brothers name. “Thank you so much. My brother can live on through your child. Thank you” she said as the tears streamed down her face. “You’re naming him after me? Guys, I don’t know what to say. Thank you” you all looked over to Steve to see that he also had tears running down his face.

The next few hours were full of everyone taking turns to cuddle your son. You looked around the room at your family. You smiled at the sight of everyone’s happy faces and then glanced down at your sons sleeping face. You were delighted that you and Bucky now had a new adventure to go on. Parenthood.
