The faculty, students, and parents of SS. Peter & Paul School, Plains, are hosting an Opening House on Sunday, January 25, from noon to 3 p.m. The event is for current families, prospective families, and friends. There will be arts and crafts for children, technology demonstrations, and refreshments. Registrations will accepted for new students in grades pre-kindergarten through 8. St. Rocco’s Church Holy Name Society officers and members held a meeting to make plans for their annual Palm Sunday Smoker on April 11. This year’s smoker will mark the 61st gathering and promises to be as successful as past events. At this meeting, chaired by President Jarrett Ferentino, plans for the smoker were discussed. Any male church members of St. Rocco’s Church wishes to join the Holy Name Society should contact Secretary Treasurer, John Trombetta. Annual dues are payable at the next meeting which will be held at 7 p.m. on February 11, at Tony’s Pizza, City Line Plaza. Tickets for the annual Palm Sunday Smoker will be available at the next meeting.
Oblates Cooperators
The Oblates of St. Joseph Lay Cooperator Society will hold its monthly meeting on Wednesday, February 4, at the Oblates of St. Joseph Seminary, Route 315 in Pittston. The meeting will follow the 7:00 p.m. Novena to St. Joseph and St. Joseph Marello. The lay society welcomes anyone who would like to support the local Oblate priests in their spiritual and apostolic work.
Young Adult Retreat

The Altar and Rosary Society monthly meeting of Our Lady of Sorrows Church, West Wyoming, will be held Monday, January 26.
Reparation Vigil
The next monthly First Friday Reparation Vigil to the Sacred Heart of Jesus & Immaculate Heart of Mary will be held Friday, February 6, at St. Joseph’s Oblate Seminary in Laflin. Father Paul McDonnell will serve as host. Young adults are most welcome. Devotions begin Friday evening at 8 p.m. with a recitation of the Luminous Mysteries of the Rosary, during which time confessions are heard. Mass of the Sacred Heart of Jesus is celebrated at 8:55 p.m. followed by benediction, litany and consecration to the Sacred Heart. Vigil continues with the crowning of the Pilgrim Virgin Statue, World Apostolate Pledge, Fatima prayers and consecration to the Immaculate Heart of Mary. The vigil concludes with scapular enrollment at 10:15 p.m.
Spring Craft Fair
A Spring Craft and Gift Fair will be held on Saturday, April 4, from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm at The Oblates of St. Joseph on Rt. 315, Pittston. Admission is FREE with plenty of parking. 50 + vendors will be offering a wide variety of hand made crafts and unique gift products that will be perfect for Easter and Mother’s Day gift giving. Home made food and refreshments, Chinese Auction, Theme Baskets and a Baked Good Stand will be available. For vendor info, please call Judy at 655-8860 for details. Religious Education Classes for students in grades 1 through 6 will be held this Sunday morning, January 25. Classes will be held from 10:00 a.m. to 11:15 a.m. in the Religious Education Center. The next Confirmation class will be held this Sunday, January 25, from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. in the hall at Blessed Sacrament.
In order to enter more deeply into this Year of St. Paul, Father Tom will lead a Scripture study of St. Paul’s Second Letter to the Corinthians. There will be two programs, one on Tuesday mornings from 8:30 a.m. until 10:00 a.m. and one on Tuesday evenings from 7:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. The program began on Tuesday, January 20. Night at the Races Saturday, Feb. 21 in St. Mary’s School Hall, 742 Spring St. The doors open at 6 p.m., and the races begin at 7 p.m. Admission is $5 which includes all you can eat and drink the entire night. Horses are $10 each. Racing forms can be obtained at St. Mary’s Church following the weekend Masses (Saturday at 4:30 p.m. and Sunday at 8 and 11 a.m.) or by calling the rectory at 457-3412. The sponsor of the winning horse will win $50 and does not need to be present to win.
