Ann Roslyn Kone Boden Obituary 2024 - Wheeler & Sundberg-Olpin Funeral Homes (2024)

Ann Roslyn Kone Boden (83) of Springville, Utah, passed away peacefully on June 21, 2024.

Ann Roslyn Kone Boden was born in South Gate, California to John Harold Kone & Virginia Fancher Kone on November 26, 1940. She attended schools in Chowchilla, LeGrand, Monrovia, and Fresno, California. After graduating from Bullard High School in 1958, she attended Fresno City College and worked as a dental assistant. She also worked for Federal Fruit Distributors and lived with her parents in Clovis.

After working for a year and attending Fresno City College, she moved up to Provo, Utah to attend BYU and pursue a degree in family studies where she enjoyed attending classes, going to Timpanogos Caves, hiking Y Mountain, and going to school dances. While at BYU, she was set up on a blind date with a handsome young man, Robert Boden. Ann “knew right away” that he was the one and didn’t want to date anyone else. They visited her family in Fresno for Christmas. Ann said that meeting her family “went fine because…who couldn’t like Bob?!” They were engaged shortly after and married in the Los Angeles LDS Temple on April 19, 1968.

For a brief period, they lived in Provo while Robert finished his degree at BYU. They eventually moved to Fresno and, together, Ann and Robert raised their 5 sons: Greg, Eric, Jeremy, Patrick and Garrett in California in the Fresno/Clovis area where they made many lifelong friends. They enjoyed many camping trips to Dinkey Creek and occasional trips to southern California to go to the beach, see family, and play at Disneyland. In 1992, they returned to Utah for Robert to earn a master’s degree at BYU.

It brought Ann great joy to be in the beautiful shadows of the Wasatch Mountains. She worked at the BYU bookstore for many years, which she loved. She enjoyed meeting new people and talking with students. Ann and Robert were thrilled when they bought their first home in 2010, where she could have more room to tend to flowers, trees, and bushes. She thoroughly enjoyed their little neighborhood in Springville where she connected with many of the neighborhood families. She was known on their street as “Grandma Ann” and you could often find her greeting the children outside as they walked home from school.

Ann was a voracious reader, and she was often found lying in her bed consuming a book. She would easily read 2 to 3 books per month and promptly return them to the library for many more. She once said that she loved romance novels “because they always end happy.”

Ann and Robert were faithful and devoted companions in this life. They had a great love for and friendship with each other. They enjoyed many laughs together as they raised their family. The best gift they gave their children was an unfaltering love of the Gospel of Jesus Christ and a loving and committed marriage.

Ann’s 19 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren loved their grandma. She always wanted to know about their lives and what they were doing.

Shortly after moving into their new home, Ann was reunited with her daughter whom she selflessly placed for adoption when she was born. Since that time, Ann and Louise have enjoyed a wonderful relationship as she has also got to know her two daughters, Christine and Ashley, her husband, Jose, and three beautiful great grandchildren.

Ann was a woman of great faith in her Savior, Jesus Christ and in His restored Gospel. She served in a variety of callings in the Church and enjoyed any opportunity to show the Savior’s compassion to others.

We will miss her dearly, until we meet again.

Ann is preceded in death by her husband, Robert Heber Boden, father, John Harold Kone and her mother, Virginia Fancher Kone, older sister, Barbara Doreen Kone Garn, and John Randall Kone.

She is survived by her younger sister, Alice Kathleen Kone Braze, her 6 children and their spouses, Louise, Greg (Yvette), Eric (Collette), Jeremy (Daria), Patrick, Garrett (Anjali), 19 grandchildren, Rebekah (Kaleb), Garon, Ty, Kindsay, Ashley (Jose), Christine, Kylee (Kevin), Shantelle (Colby), Dalton (Camille), Allie, Sam, Hannah, Leah, Elisabeth, Nicolas, Malakai, Noah, Lorenzo, and Willow. She also had 9 great grandchildren—Cohen, Beckham, Riley, Riggins, Indy, Isla, Oliver, Elijah, James.

Memorial Services will be held at the Springville Dry Creek Stake Center, (1157 W 900 S, Springville, UT 84663) at 11 am on Tuesday July 2, 2024. Family will greet friends one hour prior to the services. Interment: Evergreen Cemetery 997 S 400 E St, Springville, UT 84663
